Discovery Machine Awarded Second Patent Related to its Modeling Language
Effective July 13, 2010, Discovery Machine has received its second patent. This patent, authored by Todd Griffith, Rob Ross, and Sean Melody, is for Discovery Machine’s interchange language technology, which allows automatic translation of a project to XML. With this functionality, it is possible to transfer knowledge easily between different projects in the Discovery Machine Knowledge Service Modeler. It also, enables the transfer of knowledge been Discovery Machine software and any external simulation system.
With the award of this patent, Discovery Machine contributes to its growing list of patents. Discovery Machine’s first patent was awarded for the company’s unique representational Task Method Knowledge (TMK) programming language. This language is different from previous solutions because it enables the encoding of different methods or ways to do one task. “It is very exciting that we were awarded these patents,” said Dr. Todd Griffith, CTO of Discovery Machine. “It is becoming harder and harder for software companies to receive patents as time progresses.”
In addition to Discovery Machine’s current patents, the company has two patents currently pending in the US Patent Office. Discovery Machine is continually striving to document new approaches and processes for future patent applications. As the company’s software grows and its abilities increase, future patent opportunities may arise.
