Enemies Beware, Intelligent Submarines Surface at I/ITSEC 2009
Discovery Machine displays power of knowledge capture technology in showcase of intelligent submarine behaviors deployed within JSAF training simulation environment.
During the week of November 30th, the Discovery Machine team attended the Interservice/Industry Training, Simulation & Education Conference (I/ITSEC) 2009. While there, Discovery Machine had the opportunity to demonstrate the power of their software, The Knowledge Service Modeler. “Our software is capable of capturing knowledge quickly and displaying it visually in a way which expert and non-expert users alike can understand,” said Anna Griffith, CEO of Discovery Machine. This capability provides users with the power to acquire knowledge from an expert and deploy that knowledge in training simulations, artificial intelligence applications, and other business intelligence solutions without the need for a computer programmer.
While at I/ITSEC Discovery Machine performed a demonstration which showed how expert Anti-Submarine Warfare (ASW) knowledge was captured and deployed in the JSAF simulation environment. By using this expert knowledge, users were given the ability to create highly intelligent submarine missions and use them in simulation in a matter of minutes. These behaviors were capable of following a series of mission steps, such as searching for and following another entity, and reacting to certain situations, such as a torpedo in the water, which required immediate action. This was a huge advance for simulation integration as it cut down time investment from months to minutes.
