The challenge of capturing expertise

The challenge of knowledge acquisition is legendary. The world’s experts—scientists, researchers, engineers, military personnel and many others—are in increasingly short supply, and their knowledge, which is constantly evolving, is not easily transferred or leveraged. The same difficulties apply to information itself. Today, the sheer amount of data often overwhelms our ability to make effective use of it.

To surmount these challenges, we developed the Knowledge Service Modeler, novel software that enables experts to easily computerize their own strategies for solving complex problems. We augment this robust, innovative knowledge capture and engineering toolset with a full complement of services and training.

No other company combines both process and visual models with a task hierarchy to create working models—in a package easily accessible to non-technical users.

Discovery Machine Inc. products

The Discovery Machine Knowledge Service Modeler allows experts to easily and seamlessly encode their knowledge and processes into immediately usable, executable graphical software that can then be shared, modified, and leveraged.

  • Knowledge Service Modeler our core knowledge acquisition and engineering platform, works on Microsoft, Linux, and Mac systems.
  • DM Custom Consoles are authored applications consisting of the Knowledge Service Modeler UI components and framework. It allows visualization or modification of the underlying knowledge service models.
  • Discovery Machine Sketching Console is a DM Custom Console containing the Sketch Editor and Scenario Viewer from the Knowledge Service Modeler in order to capture high-level processes and concepts.
  • Knowledge Service Engine runs Knowledge Service Gears without needing the full Modeler. Gears are customized, stand-alone, executable process models. Gears can be incorporated into current systems to create new or enhanced knowledge systems or connected together to form new knowledge systems.
  • DM Custom Advisors are authored applications consisting of a user interface and Gears. They do not allow visualization or modification of the underlying models.

  • Discovery Machine Methodology, a licensable technology, enables experts to capture and run their best practices.

  • Discovery Machine Templates are customizable knowledge service models covering a wide range of 'quick start' examples.

  • Discovery Machine Plug-ins enhance functionality. Plug-ins are available for BIOSPICE and Eclipse.

  • Discovery Machine Site License authorizes users to interface or embed any DM product in a single application or system.  It entitles the user or organization to the Knowledge Service Gear and DM Project API’s.

Discovery Machine software is compliant with the requirements of section 508 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 as amended by the Workforce Investment Act of 1998.
