Discovery Machine™ Inc. Announces Availability of E3W Version 4.2

Dallas, TX, September 20, 2006—Discovery Machine Inc. (DMI) announced the availability of version 4.2 of its Expertise Encoding and Execution Workshop (E3W) at the Eclipse Members' Meeting and Marketing Seminar. E3W gives knowledge experts—strategists, scientists, researchers and others—the ability to build working models, simulations and intelligent agents without the need for scripting languages or complex rule-based systems.

DMI E3W 4.2 includes support for Mac OS X Tiger R Version 10.4.6 and an exciting new plugin for Eclipse. The E3W plugin for Eclipse is a wizard which aids software developers in calling a Discovery Machine application or process model.   This plugin launches a wizard within Eclipse that will gather required information about the DMI software and automatically generate and insert the required source code into a Java editor necessary to call and execute that process.

The new version also includes two new major features. The Discovery Machine Runtime Environment is a lightweight installation that allows users to execute Discovery Machine Gears or embed them in other programs without the need of the full E3W. The new Scenario Viewer enables users to encode knowledge system information and scenarios for their projects. Scenarios and knowledge system information are used during the conceptualization phase of the Discovery Machine Methodology.

“We designed E3W to address the problems associated with knowledge acquisition and its application to real-world problems”, said Todd Griffith, Discovery Machine’s founder and CTO. “Our software and methodology is based on cognitive science principles which enable us to capture expert thought processes and automate them for applications in business intelligence, training, decision analytics, process management, intelligent systems, serious gaming and more.”

“The Eclipse Foundation is delighted to have this new addition in our ecosystem,” said Mike Milinkovich Executive Director, Eclipse Foundation, Inc.  “DMI’s ability to efficiently capture, imbed, and deploy knowledge will foster innovation and additional productivity opportunities for Eclipse-based solutions.”

“This is a nice moment for DMI,” said DMI’s CEO Howard Lewis.  “Discovery Machine process models can now be leveraged from or embedded into any application developed on the Eclipse open source framework.  Our support for Macintosh, Eclipse, and the open-source environment takes E3W to the next level as a knowledge engineering platform.  This event exposes DMI to a very skilled and creative developer community and a much broader set of applications.”
