Anna L. Griffith
CEO + Co-founder

Over the past eighteen years, Ms. Griffith's academic and commercial experiences have made her a world expert in knowledge capture and deployment.   Ms. Griffith is responsible for the strategic direction of the company which includes developing the Discovery Machine Methodology and training programs. 

Prior to founding Discovery Machine in 1999, Ms. Griffith managed large scale projects in environments from research labs to Fortune 500 companies.   She directed multimillion dollar DARPA knowledge acquisition initiatives involving teams from SRI, CMU, BBN, and ISI, as well as corporate initiatives involving DEC, General Motors and NCR.    In her work she has developed knowledge systems for domains including manufacturing, software design, architecture, and military planning.   

She initiated and leads the Greater Williamsport Technology Futures organization.   The organization has motivated businesses, elected officials and economic development organizations to grow technology in the region.   Her work has been published in industry journals and in David Leake's book "Case-Based Reasoning: Experiences, Lessons & Future Directions".

Todd W. Griffith, Ph.D.
President + Co-founder

Dr. Griffith has worked in the area of intelligent systems research for more than a decade and is widely published on subjects that include cognitive science, human-computer interaction and intelligent systems. Dr. Griffith taught computer science and artificial intelligence at Georgia Institute of Technology and at Bucknell University.

Dr. Griffith’s current research involves building knowledge acquisition tools that allow subject matter experts to encode their own problem-solving strategies. His research has been supported by the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA), the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA), the Office of Naval Research (ONR), the Navy Warfare Development Command (NWDC) and the National Science Foundation (NSF). The Discovery Machine software is the commercial realization of this research.

Born in Pittsburgh, PA, Dr. Griffith is a 1991 cum laude graduate of Bucknell University, where he received a bachelor of science in computer engineering and a bachelor of arts in philosophy. He received both masters and doctoral degrees in computer science from Georgia Institute of Technology.

Dr. Griffith is a member of the American Association for Artificial Intelligence and the Cognitive Science Society. A co-founder of the Bucknell Opera Company, he continues to perform in concert at community venues.

Mr. Lewis’s experience in the many facets of technology companies spans more than 30 years. As an executive in Software Development and Management at IBM, he led the advanced design and strategy for a number of worldwide operating systems and application development products. Mr. Lewis also has held senior executive positions at SEER Technologies, NxView Technologies and SlickEdit Inc., and he currently serves as an advisor or a board member for Eclipse Foundation, Nevalon Technologies, and Patent Wizards International. Mr. Lewis has received numerous leadership awards for achievements that range from technological innovations to business strategy.
